Spinal Decompression / Traction Therapy

Cervical discs and joints in your back and neck may constitute the source of up to 70% of neck and arm pain. Headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome and TMJ are also related to pressue in these areas. Non-surgical spinal decompression traction is the use of force, time and position to try to reduce or eliminiate pain in your body.

The traction process allows stretched or torn tissue fibers to heal and tighten. Pressure that builds up on your discs and nerves is relieved by drawing areas of herniated discs back into place. This is accomplished by creating negative pressure, causing a vacuum effect. The vacuum effect accomplishes 2 things:

decompression

1) Disc material that has protruded or herniated outside the normal confines may be pulled back.
The vacuum within the disc stimulates the growth of blood supply. This may result in pain reduction and healing at the injured site.

Patients lie or sit on our padded table, fully clothed, sometimes while wearing a head or wrist harness. This “table” is so revolutionary that it won a 2006 Australian Design Award in the “Medical and Scientific” category. It is also the system that the University of Texas purchased for the treatment of its world-class athletes.
